Kano State government has said no fewer than 3,234 workers earning salaries in the state public service have been found ineligible for employment.

Besides, the Government revealed that a 13-year-old girl, students of primary and secondary schools, members of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), are among the ineligible workers recruited by the immediate-past administration.
Recall that Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf directed the immediate suspension of salaries of about 12,566 public servants in a last-minute recruitment of Governor Abdullahi Umar Gandujes government.
The NNPP government subsequently constituted 22 high-powered members committee to investigate the development and make recommendations on the next line of action.
Addressing newsmen on the development yesterday morning, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, said the committee has submitted its report and recommendations after two months assignment.
According to the SSG, the committee discovered that despite the hastened employment exercise, the immediate-past administration failed to capture the financial implication in the 2023 Appropriation. He said it was sad to discover that the majority of those recruited did not go through formal screening exercise, while some got the job with fake certificates.
Dr. Bichi revealed that part of the recommendations sanctioned by the Government includes offering 9,332 workers with relevant qualifications employment opportunity into the Service. He said appropriate sanctions will be meted to especially those civil servants that carried out the action, in line with civil service rules.
Specifically, the SSG disclosed that those that would be sanctioned include the mother of the 13-year-old girl, who confirmed to the committee that she has been receiving salaries through her mothers account who is a worker in the public service.
